Local move within Texas

Move from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Dallas Texas in June 2017.

Never again will I use them nor would I recommend them to you're quote one price then when they have your stuff on the truck you're quote another when my property was delivered I was quote anothe price. My property was damaged after they unloaded it a brand new tv screen cracked. They (the company)had me file a claim had to have a settlement claim notarize and everything sent it to them. The amount they offered me regarding my damage wouldn't have even covered a new tv. I am still waiting on that settlement check.

Long-distance move from Pennsylvania to Georgia

Horrible company.

Terrible experience. This is a scam. Please don't believe the over-the-top 5 star reviews you find. I was given a great quote and gave them my deposit. The day of my move, the movers showed up 4 hours later than they were scheduled. They took 5 hours to load everything (it was already boxed for them.) After loading my belongings, they told me I owed almost 3 times more than I had been quoted. I refused to sign, so they drove off with my stuff anyway. It took 3 angry voice mails before I got a call back, and was totally disrespected by customer service. They didn't seem to care that I was mislead or treated so badly. The held my belongings hostage until I could pay them the new price, which of course had to be cash or wire transfer. They DO NOT have their own drivers. They guys who delivered my stuff said they are contracted out. Upon delivery I had multiple pieces of furniture broken or damaged, and a few pieces lost. I'm now trying to find out how to try to get some compensation for these damages, but they made sure not to put any of that on their website.

Long-distance move from Baltimore, MD to Dallas, TX

Good moving company.

As I intended to do… to write a good or bad review for this company, depending on their business towards me and my move.
Surprisingly for me, I will give them 5 stars. They deserved it. I honestly didn’t expect such a good handling of all the moving process.
From the very beginning they gave me a good price for the move. I received a generous discount from the management, a military discount. As the next step was the actual pick-up day. I was called by the driver early in the morning, and I was told when he and his team will arrive. They’v loaded everything in about 4 hrs, and I must say they did a good job packing all my furniture.
Also wanted to mention that both teams were nice and professional people.
As I was promised, I recieved my stuff in 2 weeks.
My experience with them was good, and I felt obligated to leave a good review.

Long-distance move from Leland, NC to Oklahoma City, OK

Worst moving company.

I hired the Public Moving Company located in 7706 Waterford Square Dr Unit 1221, Charlotte, NC 28226. The job was to move all my households item from Leland, NC to Oklahoma City. They came to my house on August 15, 2017 and after loading my stuff in a truck they charge me more because they said that I exceeded the quantity estimated. On October 11, 2017 representatives of Public Moving Company came in a truck with "all" my households stuff. They didn't want to start uploading until I give them the remaining of the payment in a money order. At first, they wanted the money orders on blank and I told them that I won't give a blank money order. After several minutes, back and forth and multiples calls to Public moving, they accepted the money orders filled. First the company only sent two people to handle and assemble our furniture. They didn't assemble all the furniture (I paid for a full package and unpackage service) and they were lost on how to assemble. Second many of the furniture came with scratches, bumps and even broke. When finished uploading everything they want that I sign the papers and I complained that they didn't bring all my stuff. They said that they just picked up the truck to deliver. I called Public Moving Company and they said that the others stuff will come in two, no more than three days. Three days passed and since Friday 10-21-2017 nobody call me back to explain to me when my stuff will come. I called today every day since then and the dispatcher told me that they don't have my items in the schedule and didn't know when my stuff will com. I asked for a supervisor and she told me that she didn't have one. I called customer services and told me that they don't have any supervisor that I can talk to. I still calling and now they avoided my calls and the last time they even mentioned that they don’t have my items. The cost of all my missed items are around $20,000.00. They stole my household items and because they cross interstate lines I complained with the FBI but still no response..

Long-distance move from Michigan to North Carolina

Horrible.

I was moving from Michigan to NC. The movers showed up and informed me it was like double then what I was quoted by the salesman. They were moving me from a storage unit to my new home.
I was told they would unload and set up my items upon arrival.
I was also told I would not have to pay a delivery fee if it had to be in storage for a few days.
Well, when they got toy place it was raining. First, they tried charging me a long haul fee saying they could not back into my driveway. Mind you, this a an access road where a mobile home had been taken you. Then, they said well if you can get your neighbor to agree to any damages to their yard or trees they could do it, I did. Then, they unpacked their truck and put everything in the rain before bringing it in, getting boxes and furniture muddy.
They did not use foot covers, thereby tracking mud throughout my house. Also tracks from their muddy cart. They refused to set my bed up, or to put my 2 tables together.
I put a claim in about all this back in May. I keep being told it has been processed and is in for payment for the past three months. Now, nobody answers their phones and nobody responds to emails either. I even threatened them with reporting to BBB if I do not hear from them within the month.
They don't even deserve a 1 star. There are plenty more pictures.

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

Do not use this fraudulent company.

Decided to go with this company. They gave quote of 500 ct. which initially cost $2095.01. They day before the move they called again to confirm. I took off a patio table and 4 chairs adding on a my sectional which changed the cf. 545, totaling $2398.00. After showing up to my home 2 hours late after the window they said they didn't come prepared for a full pack, we needed to all the company and reschedule. We call dispatcher and she said we needed to pack things ourselves and they would come out the following day. The new moving team arrived after we had broken down everything, packed things in boxes, and told us that stuff exceeded the cubic square based off a visual estimate. After leaving multiple items at my home such as the sectional, lamps, clothes, dishes, pots, pans, the list goes on we were still over capacity. Not to mention they charged us for the tape used to wrap beds, dressers, etc which in the contract was stated that (blankets/ protective pads: Free Use Of blankets & Padding, Belts, Ties, and Straps). The driver told us if we tipped the team good we would over look certain charges because he felt God told us he were good people. Now fast forward until today 4 August 2017, we were contacted today saying that the movers would be here today. I called dispatch the night prior morning, and of course they were rude telling me that the stuff was on it's way, if I didn't accept today it would be an extra $2000 fee for storage and re-delivery. I asked if their was an issues yesterday why didn't Ellie say anything and Ellie also stated that they were going to call me the following to schedule delivery date. I fear that this company will get here and try to charge more as I've seen in several reviews. We are already $1344 of what the company originally quoted us and I fear my things will be damaged as well. This is not a good practice for a business especially when they claim they are a veteran-owned company. Asking the status of our household goods and asked if we could put into storage. A lady name Ellie said it would be no problem. Not even two hours after making the phone call my husband gets a call from the driver yelling, cussing and demanding he pay them because he will be here tomorrow. My husband stated that I called the company and that the stuff was going into storage. I called the company again to confirm the storage, the same lady Ellie states that they were coming and would charge me an extra 2,000 for redelivery fee. Movers called gave me a window of 3-4 pm. Showed up around 5:30 pm. Demanded more money for a long carry because they would not park in front of my apartment. (Funny the military mover that moved us here had no issues parking in front of our complex). Didn’t start the unloading until cash was paid, didn’t assemble anything, didn’t go through inventory with us. Everything that this company pack was ruined. Dining room chairs, entry way table completely broken, missing a 55 inch Vizo TV, and 3 boxes of close. I have been trying to contact claim but of course no answer. They heavily rely on caller ID. I am definitely reporting this company to other government agencies.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Forest Park, IL

Damaged and lost items.

My grandfather arranged for this company to move his belongings from Colorado to Illinois. Everything was picked up alright. When it was delivered, we were missing 4 boxes. His fireplace heater had a hole in the door. The lamp that my grandmother had for years was shattered. He was diagnosed with small cell a few months ago. He passed away a week and a half ago while this company was destroying and losing his things. There are 4 important boxes of his things we may never see again. They lost some of the belongings he earned in the Vietnam War. We have tried calling multiple times and have not even reached a human being. We have left multiple messages without anyone returning our phone calls. They charged him around 7000 dollars to move his things and this is the service we received. I implore anyone reading this not to use this company.

Delays, losses and extra charges.

My stuff got picked up from CA to be moved to NC on May 21st. After an original estimate of $3385.00 for the move (without visual inspection) with full pack service. On the day of move, the estimate was revised to $4400 (30% more than quoted). How is someone suppose to believe their quotes!!
Getting a date for dispatch is like pulling teeth. You call their customer service numbers and no one picks up or you wait for atleast 30 minutes. I was told a date and told I will hear back from driver which I didn't for the next 2 days. On reaching the dispatch department, I was told that they did not load my stuff on the truck as it got filled up. So, who is suppose to inform me of any changes?
On delivery, a dining chair arrived broken. A wardrobe box was missing. A claim has been filed 2 weeks back and have not heard back.
Overall, felt scammed at pickup with the increase on estimate and very annoyed with the customer service and dispatch departments on being rude and un-reachable.

Long-distance move from Tampa, FL to Peachtree City, GA

Do NOT believe anything this company tells you.

BEWARE-- read all reviews. The company has lots of poor reviews on google from people that actually live in the USA and moved with this horrible company.
Research them on DOT website - fmcsa.dot.gov; the company cannot post fake reviews there.
I moved from Tampa to ATL. I was given an estimate of $5600; I asked the sales person, Tommy Lee, 3 times if he was sure the inventory was correct and even emailed him another company's estimate. He stated the other company was putting a high weight and would not refund the difference and that Public Moving Services, did not do things like that. Once all of our belongings were loaded on the truck, the person in charge of the loading shows up with new paperwork and tells us our cubic ft was way higher than estimated and we owe an additional $7000. A total of $12600. Once our belongings left our house, we had to wire 1/2 of the money. We were told we had to do so to insure our delivery was on time. This conversation was with Angela. After 3 weeks, we were given a delivery date on a Thursday afternoon, for the next day, Friday. They did not show up, no one would answer the phones. Finally 6 days later we were able to get someone on the phone and get our stuff delivered 2 days later. We had to pay the balance in cash before they would unload the trunk. Also, we were missing items and had broken items.

Long-distance move from Florida to California

Best moving company I have ever used.

I had to move from Miami to LA during the first week of April. Had to relocate due to a new job. This company made my move process really simple and hassle free. I admit the price wasn't the cheapest but I needed someone reliable. The driver called me the day before the move and showed up on time. It took over a week to get my items but I was able to reach the driver the entire time. I definitely recommend this company to anyone if your looking move.

Terrible service.

Once they got my money they stopped returning calls. They missed the original delivery date by two weeks and no one would return my calls when I was asking for information. I left countless voicemails and sent numerous emails. Adam-the-mover was my salesperson but refused to call me back after he made the sale.

I would not use this company again if they paid me to do so. The only decent person I spoke with was Reggie from QA.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Florida

Good expirience.

Well I can't really say nothing bad about this guys. My moving time was about 2 weeks from the day I first called them and to when I had my belongings at new place.
I did some research before moving and knew that sometimes movers load trucks the way they need so that c.footage was bigger. I had a camera on my driveway and made sure they parked where I needed them to. My wife was running back and forth controlling what goes next and I was trying to see how they pack. Well luckily I didn't see anything weird. IMO they did a good job.
From that point on I was sure they are the good guys. Only was hoping for the safe trip.
whats else to say. Price was fair IMO, I had estimates from 3 more companies. There were 4 people loading, working in couples. Tooks them aprrox 4 hours to get it over with.

And finally, I do recommend this guys.

Satisfied.

I was relocating from Colorado to Florida last month with Public Moving Services. The movers were very professional. It was obvious they had experience. Took my huge roll top desk apart like pros. Also I liked that two additional man showed up to help with the piano. They put things exactly where I wanted them even allowing little time to decide. The only thing that wast perfect its delivery window, delivery team showed up 1 hour later than we agreed, but in overall I satisfied with their job!

Rude sales team.

The quote I received in my email for a two bedroom apartment (1286.26) was significantly lower than when I called about my actual one bedroom apartment (1875.00). The man then started obviously lying to me to cover his tracks. I told his it was odd. He then told me good luck spending over $3000 for my move and hung up on me. Not someone I want to trust with my move.

Bait and Switch.

I spent 45 minutes going room by room with Andrew Johnson going over item by item. He estimated 1500 cubic feet. Told me he even cushioned it a little. Today the movers came and with 10 minutes the new estimate was 2800 c.f.. At $3.30 a c.f. plus the $1 for packing almost doubled the price. For me it was it seemed calculated and part of the sham. I called Public and they were absolutely no help. Got a cold hearted insincere sorry. I say don't use them ever. They kill you with kindness and then stick it to you when you don't have a choice.

Poor Communication and Services.

Make sure you read the contract carefully! I said I needed the stuff to be there on a certain date, and at no time did anyone say I had to pay extra for that, "Carl. I made that very clear and asked several times about it. They acted like that would not be any problem. Granted, I should have read the contract closer, so I take the blame for that. Now my stuff is still not there, and they will not call me back. Suddenly they cannot call me back. Funny they called me every hour when they were trying to get me business. I had to call the corporate number, who told me it would be 2-4 days for my stuff. Just read everything closely. Their service is totally unacceptable.

The worse moving company.

I moved from Florida to NC in May 2017. They lost a box of my moving and broke the bottom part of my sofa. I have not received my reimbursement yet. I have been waiting hours over the phone to talk to someone and I had good luck only one time. I think NC authorities must arrest this company for doing things like this to honest people like us. We have to work so hard to pay for this kind of moving and the staff are getting their money very quick OF COURSE and after that.. forget about your money. I do not recommend this company AT ALL to any person in the world.

Long-distance move from Pittsburg, KS to White Pigeon, MI

Disreputable.

From the start, I was lied to by the salesman. They were not the cheapest quote, but because he promised my things would only be handled once by the same crew, load and unload, I went with them.
We firmed a date, and then Friday afternoon, before the Saturday morning they were to load, they called to say it would have to be Sunday. I could not do it. Somehow they got a crew there Saturday (late) to load.
The crew showed up and it was like a 60 Minutes piece on how moving companies bait and switch you. The driver kept saying it was more than estimated and it would cost more. We argued and could not get anyone from the company to return calls. I sent them away. The dispatcher finally called me after they left and we ironed it out. the crew returned to load. It was very late. they treated out things roughly and damaged almost everything. We took video and pictures as it happened.
They called the day before they were supposed to deliver and told us there was a truck break down, and out things would be delayed. they would let us know. The truck used was a rental truck, so I had the number of the truck from the pictures and video I took. I called the truck rental company. they lied. There was no break down. They never intended to deliver our things as promised.
When they finally delivered our things (weeks late), it was a disaster. The unload crew (different than the load crew - another lie) was embarrassed and apologetic as they unloaded our things. They took there own pictures and called their dispatcher so they would not be blamed for the damage.
I filed a claim, following their restrictive claim procedure (obviously designed to discourage filing claims) last June 2017, and have still not gotten resolution.
This is a disreputable company. They intend to misrepresent and deceive.

Local move from Glen Cove, NY to Brentwood, NY

They took my money and never delivered my property.

I hired Public Moving and Storage located in Charlotte,NC with DOT# 2955650 after I lost my home in New York to a bank foreclosure. I have two children with disabilities and none of my family live in New York. I needed to move to St Louis, Missouri where my family live.I contracted with Public Moving and Storage ,based out of North Carolina, on June 19. I had been assured they would handle everything for my families moving other then our personal items. I asked several times if there were any other hidden charges since I am a single mother on a tight budget, was told this was my total, then paid a deposit of $1,840 by credit card on June 19. 2017. I was scheduled to move June 30, 2017. The day of the move Public Moving called saying they had over booked and asked if I would change days to Saturday July 1 in exchange for a $200 reduction in my rate. As soon as the movers arrived, in a rented Enterprise moving truck, they started adding to the amount due. When I called the company I was told since it was Saturday no one could help me. I tried to cancel but they had my deposit which they would keep if I canceled. I saw the minimum they would move was 600 cubic feet and asked to be reduced to that amount. They refused. We settled for them moving 1000 cubic feet with no extra's, such as mattress bags and television packing. I was informed they needed cash payment for half of the remainder $1,445, which I paid. They took 4 dressers filled with light, fragile items, that were important to us such as pictures and items my children had made since we were told we could leave light, fragile items in dresser drawers. They took a clothes washer, dryer, dishwasher and a free standing freezer as well as 16 boxes filled with my children and my possessions. They were to hold these for 60 days then deliver. I started calling at the end of August to get a date for delivery but was told they had between 4 and 21 business days to deliver goods. I called every week trying to get my belongings. The often would put me on hold for long periods of time, once for an hour and a half, then disconnect my call or send me straight to voice mail. I was told on Oct 18 my belongings were being loaded and would take 7 to 10 business days for delivery. I was to expect a call giving me notice a few days before delivery. Three business days later, Monday Oct 23, I received a call saying my items were to be delivered the next morning at 6 am. I was not going to be in town until Oct 26 and told the man I would take delivery Friday October 27. This morning I called Public Movers at 8:07 am central time, and was told no one could talk to me about my property at this time but they would call me later today. I waited until 3:39 pm and called them back only to be told I am not listed as a delivery for next week and that there was no one who could talk to me until Monday Oct 30. I have since called back only to either not have my call answered or to be told someone would call me back and they never call. I am a single mother with two disabled children. I truly need our belongings. It is getting cold and our winter clothes are in those boxes. We need our appliances and dressers, they contain memories that I can not replace. Please help if you can.

Public Moving Services.

We sold our house and had a quick move of 3 weeks. Once our contract was signed on July 24, 2017 and our$2,210 deposit was made they would not return calls or emails. On the 3rd day, July 27th we cancelled the move with them. After we rescinded our contract, we received an email that quoted a higher price for the services they had promised, a live load and door to door delivery. This was extremely important because we had told them we have a 25 year old with severe autism and it is very difficult if we do not have a live load with immediate delivery.
We were told not a problem at all. Linda at PMS said they totally understand and since they have their own trucks and drivers (both lies) it would be very easy to move in one day.
SHe even gave me her cell phone so if we had any problems she would be there with us from start to finish. They told us they do not guarantee pick up date, after they had told us they could pick up our house hold goods. Our son is a Deputy and he said this looks like a scam and once our items were on the truck we would not be able to get them off. He said they can hold our belongings for ransom and we would have to pay whatever they asked.
We quickly hired ABF and had a very smooth move for slightly more than our deposit.

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Colorado

Scammer Alert**.

They charged us 3 THOUSAND dollars MORE Than expected.. I did all my research, I pre packaged/taped-shut/saran wrapped Everything, and the first thing they did is re tape over my tape, re saran wrap over my wrap.. and charge me for their labor, packing materials, and time!!
**Not to mention, I specifically had several Big items I had told them if we went over space wise I didn't want them to pack, I was speaking to a Russian man, He said we would be over at the end if they took the matress, so they left out one matress, and said there was about a 4'x2' space left and that's it..after it was already gone I found out we were over 300sq ft. that's $1200 just thrown in the air! I had Absolutely no Knowledge of this!! I'm very upset! I feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me, as They Did Know I Did NOT want to go over at all. And Never Told me I went over! I feel Scammed in every sense of the word. I even tipped the 3 men $60 SMH.. At the end, there was nothing left in the house except a matress and my leftover packing materials I had purchased.. The man asked if he could have them, I said sure, I'd just throw them away anyways, it was probably $70 worth of stuff, then found out later charged $120 for packing materials.. Please Don't use this company! Looking back wish I could have move myself. or don't do anything at all, cause they're going to redo everything you did and charge you 3x for it.. time/material/labor..23 days to get my stuff too!!

Great professional moving devices.

Hi, my name is Michael wanted to say thank you to Public moving being my relocation agent) My move CO - IL was fast , quick and very professional. Top service from a very beginning, accurate estimate based on items I had provided to a sales rep, on time moving crew at the pick up , professional packing and fast delivery with just a minor damage. Will defenetly recommend them ! The pick up crew foreman Sam was very polite and helpful explaining all the details of the contract and of course I had more items when I was thinking from the beginning , so my price went up a little bit , but it was explained prior signing any paperwork , great packing and wrapping , friendly customer service , on time delivery ! Thank you guys a lot.
